Book excerpt: In our pursuit of God, it is once again time to go up the ‘mountain’ of the Lord, arising from the valley of carnality, for we can no longer pretend everything is fine. We can no longer pretend we are living in the glory and Truth of God. For there is a light that shines over yonder beyond the gate and beyond the valley, beyond the line of the trees where the waters reach to the mountain, for there the light of the Lord shines as He calls His people home to seek and worship and find Him. Do we know His voice? Shall we arise to drink from the Lord, to be sit at His table, to listen again to His voice and to seek His Kingdom above all else? Such a decision has to be taken for a flood of the Spirit comes in the churches and throughout the world. Shall we be found on the Rock of the Lord, or shall our sand of illusion and deception be swept away by the glory of the Lord? This collection of teachings are designed to make us think, ponder, reflect and consider our spiritual walk with Jesus. It is designed to bolster our faith, but also to equip and to challenge the believer.

Book excerpt: In John 15 Jesus said, "Abide in Me, and I in you." And "he who abides in Me and I in him, he bears much fruit, for apart from Me you can do nothing." What does it mean to "abide" in Jesus? And what does it look like to have Jesus "abide in us?" Scripture explains Scripture. So each lesson herein is a paragraph or two of scripture, in context, sorted by theme, where two or more of the words "abide", "filled" and/or "Him in us" (and their various synonyms) appear in the same paragraph; followed by four questions. Each Scripture is in context, but it's best if you also read what surrounds these verses. The following is a condensed summary of the Scriptures included in this Bible study on Jesus abiding in you. When we abide in Him, we dwell (remain, believe in, wait on, get to know and love) Him, His love, His grace, His truth, His Word, His Light, and He abides in us. He is the Spirit, the hope of glory, the wisdom, the fullness, the truth, the glory and Love. With Him in us, leading the way, we DO what is pleasing in His sight. We bear fruit, glorify the Father, BE His disciples, obey His commands, walk as He walked. Without Him we can do nothing. But with Him nothing is impossible. If we are of the faith, Christ dwells in our heart. We are filled with the fullness of God, the power of Christ dwells in us, and we are not alone. We walk in peace, we are complete in Him, we are made alive together with Him. We are a temple of the living God. In Christ dwells all the fullness, He is wisdom and understanding, counsel and might, and knowledge. He is the Spirit of the Lord and He is upon us and in us. If we are of the faith, we have died to self and our life is hidden with Christ in God, our desires are aligned with His, Christ is Lord in our hearts, and our hope is in Him. The words of Christ richly dwell in us, we are filled with the fruits of righteousness, and He is exalted in our body for His glory and praise. The following are some other bible studies similar to "JESUS ABIDES in YOU" which are part of the IN HIM series: abide IN HIM... and HIM IN us... and bear fruit... for without HIM nothing is possible... and with HIM nothing is impossible. Book excerpt: Lessons from the letter of 1 John: understand the fullness of God's love and how it's meant to be lived out. More than any other New Testament writer, John wrote about love. He was one of Jesus' closest disciples, and his first letter is both challenging and comforting—but, ultimately, it's about living out (and living into) God's unconditional, extravagant, lavish love. In this Bible study, Wendy Blight walks you through 1 John, taking you deeper into an understanding of God's love and what that love means for you, daily... "I always knew in my head God loved me. But it wasn't until I opened the pages of 1 John that I truly experienced His love down to the depths of my soul. Exposing my heart to God's love through John's eyes transformed my heart and life in ways I could never have imagined." —Wendy. This study will help you: Develop a more intimate understanding of God's love. Transform your attitude and actions into reflections of God. Identify and discern God's truth from false teaching. Confront barriers keeping you from experiencing God's complete love. Boldly and confidently walk as a woman loved. Study guide includes biblical and historical background insights, practical application, group discussion questions, and a memory verse for each chapter. Perfect for both individuals or small groups. Inscribed is a collection of studies that lead women to not just survive but thrive by encouraging them to immerse themselves in the Word of God.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Lord wants the believers to have a living that is a mutual abiding in spirit: the believers abiding in the Lord and the Lord abiding in their spirit. Man has a human spirit for him to receive God as life, but the believers must be diligent to exercise their spirit to live by the Lord for the church life. In A Living of Mutual Abiding with the Lord, Witness Lee shows that living with the Lord in the way of mutuality is the central revelation of the Bible. For this the Lord Jesus went through a process: He became flesh, a man, to be our Redeemer; and He became the life-giving Spirit to be our Savior in life. The Lord first comes into us and then He abides in us. This mutual abiding is altogether in the one spirit. "He who is joined to the Lord is one spirit" (1 Cor. 6:17). Christ as the life-giving Spirit comes into our human spirit for us to be one mingled spirit, and this makes possible the living of the highest Christian life, a mutual abiding with the Lord.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This work focuses on progressive sanctification as a divine and human undertaking that provides a motivational setting for the transformation of an individual's life. In Christianity, sanctification occurs when a person is 'set apart' by God to carry out his will. 'Progressive sanctification' is the aspect of sanctification that describes the process of spiritual growth. Dr. Keith Kettenring's research suggests that believers participate in this process with God in 'sanctificational synergism.' Human participation is recognized through an examination of free will and a study of components that contribute to belief and character formation. This participation also includes the evaluation of one's capabilities and one's context for spiritual growth. The integration of these concepts provides a compatible and useful matrix for a more comprehensive understanding of sanctificational growth. The study of the components of human participation is also applied to the believer's personal strategy for sanctificational growth and the church's strategy to aid sanctificational growth through worship and small groups.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Christianity was meant by Jesus to be a living experience of being in the Trinitarian community--of being loved infinitely by the Father, in His Son Jesus Christ, through his Holy Spirit. In the earliest centuries of Christianity, theologians--especially in the East--thought, taught, and believed mystically about the Indwelling Trinity that lived with and transformed Christians into divinized children of God. The East still offers a rich model of participating in God's presence and experiencing the sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit. Fr. Maloney approaches this mystery of the Trinity as a dynamic movement of God toward us through His two hands, in the words of St. Irenaeus, Jesus Christ and the Holy Spirit. By drawing insights from Holy Scriptures, the Eastern Fathers, and mystics of all ages, Abiding in the Indwelling Trinity offers an intriguing vision of God as invading Love. +

Book excerpt: A theologically grounded treatment of what it means to be close to God Numerous Christian books aim to provide guidance on relationships with God, but few base their conclusions on a biblical theology of intimacy. In this volume, Tim Anderson develops a biblical and holistic portrait of nearness to God, exploring key themes like God's Trinitarian union, the fall, God's fatherhood, marriage imagery, suffering, and our relationship with the Holy Spirit. A concluding chapter examines contemporary Christian songs that address oneness with God and evaluates their theological messages in light of the previous chapters. Into His Presence is a helpful guide for pursuing intimacy with God and distinguishing contemporary cultural understandings of close relationships from those communicated in Scripture.

This book was released on 2015-02-25 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Volume 17 Sermons 968-1027 Charles Spurgeon (19 June 1834 – 31 January 1892) is one of the church’s most famous preachers and Christianity’s foremost prolific writers. Called the “Prince of Preachers,” he was one of England's most notable ministers for most of the second half of the nineteenth century, and he still remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations today. His sermons have spread all over the world, and his many printed works have been cherished classics for decades. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to more than 10 million people, often up to ten times each week. He was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was an inexhaustible author of various kinds of works including sermons, commentaries, an autobiography, as well as books on prayer, devotionals, magazines, poetry, hymns and more. Spurgeon was known to produce powerful sermons of penetrating thought and divine inspiration, and his oratory and writing skills held his audiences spellbound. Many Christians have discovered Spurgeon's messages to be among the best in Christian literature. Edward Walford wrote in Old and New London: Volume 6 (1878) quoting an article from the Times regarding one of Spurgeon’s meetings at Surrey: “Fancy a congregation consisting of 10,000 souls, streaming into the hall, mounting the galleries, humming, buzzing, and swarming—a mighty hive of bees—eager to secure at first the best places, and, at last, any place at all. After waiting more than half an hour—for if you wish to have a seat you must be there at least that space of time in advance—Mr. Spurgeon ascended his tribune. To the hum, and rush, and trampling of men, succeeded a low, concentrated thrill and murmur of devotion, which seemed to run at once, like an electric current, through the breast of every one present, and by this magnetic chain the preacher held us fast bound for about two hours. It is not my purpose to give a summary of his discourse. It is enough to say of his voice, that its power and volume are sufficient to reach every one in that vast assembly; of his language, that it is neither high-flown nor homely; of his style, that it is at times familiar, at times declamatory, but always happy, and often eloquent; of his doctrine, that neither the 'Calvinist' nor the 'Baptist' appears in the forefront of the battle which is waged by Mr. Spurgeon with relentless animosity, and with Gospel weapons, against irreligion, cant, hypocrisy, pride, and those secret bosom-sins which so easily beset a man in daily life; and to sum up all in a word, it is enough to say of the man himself, that he impresses you with a perfect conviction of his sincerity.” More than a hundred years after his death, Charles Spurgeon’s legacy continues to effectively inspire the church around the world. For this reason, Delmarva Publications has chosen to republish the complete works of Charles Spurgeon.
